In Uzhgorod, two university officials were arrested for taking a 10,000 UAH bribe

The dean of a faculty of Uzhgorod National University and her deputy received the undue benefit for not expelling a student.

Dtectives of the Economic Crime Office of the National Police together with officers of the Prosecutor’s Office detained two officials near the institution building, upon the receipt of a part of the bribe.

5,000 hryvnia was seized from the 43-year-old dean and her deputy.

Under the criminal proceeding, the detectives of the Economic Crime Office recorded the fact of extortion and obtaining of 5,000 UAH of undue benefit.

For extortion and obtaining of undue benefit, the university officials face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, and with confiscation of property.
