In Uzhgorod there will be New Orleans jazz

Roma Jazz Art Festival "Pap Jazz Fest 2012" will take place tomorrow, Sunday, November 11.

The main attraction of this year’s festival is the announced performance of the world-class jazz star, trumpeter Michael Patchez Stewart from the United States. Michael Stewart grew up in the town where the jazz was born – New Orleans. The participation in the festival of such artists as AMC-trio, quintet of Arpad Farkas, Oleksiy Revenko and others, allows to say already today that the festival will be a real treat for fans of jazz music.

"Pap Jazz Fest" is also the tribute to prominent Transcarpathian Roma jazz musician, founder of the festival, public figure Vilmosh Pap, who unexpectedly passed away. During the festival there will be the exhibition and video screenings on the history of "Pap Jazz" festivals and creative activities of its founders.

The first festival was held in 1997 as a national jazz festival, and the next festival in 1998 gained international status. The uniqueness of "Pap-jazz-fest" is that it is the only one like it in Ukraine that was founded by the Society of Roma Musical Culture in Transcarpathia "Lautari", and Romani jazz bands participated in each of the previous festivals. In general, there has been more than 100 participants and guests of the festival throughout its existence.

The constant member of the organizing committee and the host of the "Pap Jazz Fest" is a famous music critic Petro Poltarev.

The jazz festival starts tomorrow, November 11, at 18 o’clock in the "Padiyun."
