In Uzhgorod, bus fares have risen to 4 UAH

This decision was adopted today at a regular meeting of the city executive committee.

Although the issue was not previously included in the agenda, carriers who came to the meeting, asked to consider it. They said that because of the lack of compensation for the transportation of privileged passengers, and therefore a lack of funds – they would strike to avoid it – it was reasonable to raise the fare to 4 hryvnia.

The mayor of Uzhgorod Bogdan Andriyv agreed with this and the issue was included to the agenda.   

The mayor suggested the carriers to include to the draft decision year-round free transportation of students. They agreed to this proposal. But they did not said how they would be identifying students. The city council did not specify whether everyone would receive student ticket at the expense of the municipal budget, or at the expense of the parents.

Finally the decision was adopted by the majority of votes. 

The new fares take effect from the date of publication of the decision in the municipal newspaper "Uzhgorod".

According to the mayor, 4 UAH fare will be introduced next Monday, March 14.

By the way, tomorrow at the regular session of the city council, deputies will consider the allocation of compensation to carriers for transportation of privileged persons. Preliminary, it is planned to allocate UAH 13.5 million for this purpose. If this decision is adopted, the carriers will have both the compensation and the increased fare.
