Today in Uzhgorod, following lengthy public hearings on fares for passenger transport in Uzhgorod, the final resolution was adopted.
By the document, the public hearing supported the request to the City Council for the observance of transparency in issues of public transport and optimization of city routes network. In the resolution, the participants of the public hearings also demanded the carriers to adhere to traffic schedule, for which, they believe, each bus stop should be equipped with special annunciators.
Separately, on request of the activists, they added to the resolution the demand to the City Council to consider at the session and to dismiss the current Secretary of the City Council Bogdan Andriyiv, who, while being a senior officer, is also the beneficial owner of the transport business in the city.
Also, they added to the resolution the item on the appeal to the prosecutor requesting to conduct an inspection on the use of 5 million hryvnia from the state budget allocated last year to compensate the carriers for transportation at reduced prices.
It was also decided to appeal to the City Council, the executive committee, demanding a moratorium on any increase of public transport fares until the autumn local elections.
