The figure of Havrylo Hlyuk driving a car stands on a large boulder. Next to him there is the sketch of the famous painting "Loggers", which once brought the artist international acclaim at the World Art Exhibition in Brussels. In the back seat of the car there is an easel, which indicates to everyone that this car is driven by an artist. This monument, made by the sculptor Mykhailo Kolodko, was set today, on the anniversary of the death of the renowned artist.
About a year passed between the emergence of the idea of making a monument and its final implementation, said Mykhailo Kolodko. The capsule at the site of the future of the monument was laid in the spring, and since then the small square, where Havrylo Hlyuk has now "settled", has been jokingly called "Havrylo Hlyuk Square." However, every joke, as you know, has a share of the truth, and the authors of the project hope that the square will be named in honor of the famous artist.
As the chief architect of the city Oleksandr Sheba noted, it is good that "this monument is not like those bronze idols which are put in agreement with political situation. It is really made the European way, with respect to the city, and I am very pleased and honored to participate in the opening of the monument to the great artist and great man."
