On January 20, at 22:30, the rescue service received a report of a fire on Odeska street in the city of Uzhgorod. An apartment on the third floor of a five-storey residential building was burning.
Firefighters of the 14th state fire and rescue unit of the city of Uzhgorod were sent to eliminate the fire. In total, three units of basic and special equipment and 9 rescuers.
Police officers were first to arrive at the scene of the incident and opened the door to the apartment. However, due to thick smoke, they could not enter inside. The fire hearth was in the apartment corridor.
Upon arrival at the scene, Yosyp Morgenthal, the commander of the crew, and Vasyl Turyanytsya, fireman-rescuer, were the first to enter the apartment. In one of the rooms, they found a frightened 34-year-old tenant. Wasting no time, the firefighters took the woman out and handed her over to paramedics.
Then they extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire and the material damage caused are being established. The fire destroyed some of the property.
