In Uzhgorod, 20 manholes have been covered at the expense of the thieves who were caught red-handed

As of December 1, 522 gulley grates and manhole covers are missing on the city streets – this was reported by the Director of the Municipal Economy Department Oleksiy Kasperov. 

Over recent time, according to Kasperov, they have restored 266 grates and manhole covers.

256 manholes are yet to be closed by services, but it is unknown when it will happen. As for 129, it is currently unknown how it will happen. However, they said that the water unility will manufacture the covers. "Mixed version – metal with plastic." Stormwater grates will be welded – this is, according to Kasperov, "a temporary measure."

Also they have written two letters to the gas company with the insistent request to deal with the only open mahhole they are responsible for. However, the first deputy mayor Vitaly Semal said that the head of the "Zakarpathaz" promised to recover the infamous manhole on Shumna street within a week. Thus, there will be one "hole" less for Kasperov to worry about.
