Officers of Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region together with customs officers on Ukrainian-Hungarian border at the customs post "Vylok" of the Chop customs, during the inspection of a car, found two original works of the People’s Artist of Ukraine Fedir Manaylo made in the 1930s and 1960s.
A local resident, who was heading to Hungary, had no permits for the export of the paintings. The paintings were hidden in a suitcase among the personal belongings of the offender.
The examination confirmed that the paintings are original and have cultural value.
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region notified the citizen of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Art.201 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court imposed on the offender a pre-trial restraint in the form of a house arrest.
The pretrial investigation continues.
