In Transcarpathia, there is an abandoned well with salt water

Transcarpathian unique salt deposits are well known far beyond the region. But actually, Transcarpathian land has not yet disclosed its full potential.

Each year, local residents accidentally find springs with water, which truly can be called healing. Thus, in the village of Neresnytsya in Tyachiv district, local residents 3 years ago found a well with salty water, littered with rocks and boards. Later, the well was streamlined. Now, people wait in line to take water from the unique spring.

People have known that there are large underground deposits of salt in this area since ancient times. White gold here used to be extracted by mining. But these mines are not preserved now.  Where the largest one once used to be, now there is a deep lake.  Water there is fresh only on the surface, because mountain streams flow in it. Below 3 meters deep, water is as salty as in the well.

This natural potential for tourism development is used by only a few local entrepreneurs. The rest of the villagers do not have money to build hotels and resorts, and because of under-developed infrastructure and are terrible Tyachiv roads people are not sure whether such business will be profitable. Thus, the unique feature of nature remains inaccessible and yet unknown for most Transcarpathians.
