During the election day October 25, the MIA of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region received 65 statements and reports on possible violations of the election law. Criminal proceedings were initiated over 6 of them.
In general, the elections in the region took place without major violations of the law. Although the police received quite a lot – 65 – statements and reports on violations during the election process, but the lion’s share of this information was not confirmed.
Most reports of possible violations came from the city of Uzhgorod – 23. Instead, in the city of Mukachevo, there were only 2. Uzhgorod district – 10. The city of Beregovo unexpectedly took the third place – 9. The lowest number of reports came from the city of Svalyava – just one.
On 6 reports, investigators registered incidents in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations and initiated criminal proceedings.
In particular, the police are investigating three facts of possible bribing of voters in the city of Uzhgorod (Art.160 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Here, at several stations, female voters were caught taking pictures of their filled ballots with cell phones.
In Uzhgorod district, the police received a statement of a candidate to the Regional Council that she had been beaten and had her camera damaged near the polling station. This incident is classified as hooliganism (Article 296, Part 1 of the Criminal Code).
In Khust, the police are investigating the lack of 200 ballots at one of the rural stations. This event is classified under Art.158-1, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (illegal use of ballots).
Mizhhirya police received a statement from an observer of a political party that he had been beaten by a voter. This incident is classified under Art.125, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (intentional minor bodily harm).
According to the PR Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
