In Transcarpathia, police detained a border guard for organizing a “green corridor” for illegal migrants and cigarette smuggling

For a monetary reward, an inspector of the Mukachevo border detachment organized an unhindered border crossing for illegal migrants, as well as illegal transportation of tobacco products to the EU.

Investigators of the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations, located in the city of Lviv, opened a criminal proceeding under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was found out that the border guard demanded $ 1,300 for ensuring unhindered border crossing by two illegal migrants and a guide with 9 boxes of tobacco products. $ 800 for migrants and $ 500 for tobacco products.

Today, February 26, in Uzhgorod, officers of the Economic Crime Department in Transcarpathian region of the National Police, the Territorial Office of the State Investigation Bureau, located in the city of Lviv, under the procedural control of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Western region of Ukraine, detained the border guard. He had received $ 1,300 for his "work".

The money was found in the detainee’s pocket. During the pre-trial investigation, the involvement of the detainee in other similar crimes will be checked.

 The inspector of the border guard detachment was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
