In Transcarpathia, a child died due to complications after measles

In the Regional Children’s Hospital (Mukachevo), a girl from the village of Lazy in Tyachiv district died from complications after measles. This was reported by the deputy head of the Department of Health of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Tetyana Mitsyo.

"There is a confirmed death of a child due to complications after measles. The child had pneumonia, problems with the cardiovascular system and other complications. The child was not vaccinated, because the parents categorically refused (from vaccination) for religious reasons. The child received the necessary treatment and expensive medicines. The patient was examined by regional doctors and physicians from Kyiv. However, due to the progressive deterioration in health, the child died. The Ministry of Health has been informed about this in a letter," – Mitsyo said.

In total, since the beginning of the year, 715 cases of measles have been registered in the region. Most of those are children under the age of 18.
