In the mountainous regions of Transcarpathia, ice cover and avalanche hazard is expected

Transcarpathian rescuers urge their countrymen to be careful on the roads. 

According to the Transcarpathian Hydrometeorological Center, during February 26-28, ice cover will remain on the roads of the mountainous part of Transcarpathian region.

In the highlands of Transcarpathian region, due to a rapid drop in air temperature, significant (level III) avalanche hazard is expected.

Taking this into account, the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region advices citizens to refrain from trips to the mountains, as in case of avalanches such trips can end tragically.

If after all you decided to go conquering the slopes of the Carpathians, strictly follow basic safety rules. First of all, get registered at the nearest rescue service unit, prepare for the trip taking warm clothes and climbing equipment, alsways be accompanied by experienced tourists and stop the trip in adverse weather conditions. Remember: neglecting these tips can lead to fatal consequences.
