In the first quarter, Ukraine was buying gas from the EU at 33 dollars less than from Russia

In the first quarter of 2015, Ukraine’s largest state energy holding "Naftogaz of Ukraine" was importing natural gas from the EU at an average price of $ 33 lower than the price for Russian fuel.

This is stated in the presentation of the "Naftogaz of Ukraine" presented at the meeting of the National Board for Reforms on March 30, the UNIAN reported.

According to the document, in January-March 2015, gas from the EU was imported at an average price of 304 dollars per one thousand cubic meters, and from Russia – at 337 dollars per one thousand cubic meters.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, the price of the European gas was 353 dollars per one thousand cubic meters, the gas from Russian Federation – 385 dollars per one thousand cubic meters.

From April 2014 to February 2015, the "Naftogaz", according to the presentation, paid 5.33 billion dollars for 17.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, of which 2.410 billion was paid to European suppliers.

As reported, in the evening of April 1, the "Naftogaz" and "Gazprom" signed three-month contract for the supply of Russian gas to Ukraine at 248 dollars per one thousand cubic meters.

According to the Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn, the price of European gas for Ukraine today is about 270-280 dollars per one thousand cubic meters.

The minister also said that Ukraine would continue to buy gas on the European market, despite the decline in the price of Russian fuel.
