In a week, sugar in Ukraine has risen by almost 30%

Wholesale prices of sugar in Ukraine, as of February 25, 2015, have increased to 12,500 UAH for a ton.

This was reported by expert of the agriculture complex "Derzhzovnishinform" SE Ivan Tomaszewski, the press service of the company informs.

"In a week, the price of the product has increased on average by 29% compared to February 18, when the price was 9,700 UAH per ton," – Tomaszewski said.

"The main reason for rise in price of sugar is the devaluation of the hryvnia against foreign currencies. This, consequently, led to higher prices for resources and materials needed for spring field work", – the expert said.

According to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, by the end of the current year, export of sugar will have reached 20 thousand tons.

As stated, as of February 1, deliveries of sugar to foreign markets exceeded 13 thousand tons. The final remains of sugar in the country by the end of this season are projected at 661 thousand tons.
