In a week, in Transcarpathia they will be drinking openly

August 11, in the village of Lopukhiv (ancient name – Brustry), the festival "Brustry kedrovytsya" will be held.
The festival is named after cedars (Ukrainian – kedr) that grow in the Brustry Forest and Hunting Farm, at the altitude of 1350 m, on poor, stony soils.
"Elsewhere the trees can not survive, but here they can, because it is the Horhansky range, – the head of the "Kedrynske" Forestry Vasyl Zolotar said. – No one knows how these trees came here, but scientists estimate that their age is more than 500 years."
Here, pine cones are used for making the traditional drink of the festival – kedrovytsya. The drink is made according to the process, known only to foresters where the cedars grow. We found out that the color of kedrovytsya – red or yellow – depends on the age of cones. It also determines the taste of the drink. To produce the drink, they use only those cones that have fallen to the ground. Kedrovytsya has therapeutic and preventive effect and helps against many diseases.
