Last night on May 11, at the checkpoint "Tisa", which is located on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, an emergency happened. During the inspection of vehicles Chop border guards found a sports bag, left among the trees that were close to the main building.
The operator on duty immediately reported it to law enforcement agencies. Before the arrival of Research and Development Forensic Center AMIA, traffic across the border was cut off, and everyone at the checkpoint was evacuated. The police were first to get down to work – during the inspection, bomb-disposal experts and dog handlers didn’t find any dangerous items.
There were about twenty cartons of cigarettes and personal belongings in the bag. The owner was quickly identified, it was a 26-year-old unemployed resident of Lviv region, who was traveling by bus to Italy on personal business.
As it turned out, the traveler was planning to transport the cigarettes across the border but, fearing liability for smuggling, he left them on the lawn. Now the customs authorities are addressing the issue of the man’s carrying the administrative responsibility, says CCA Ministry of Internal Affairs in Transcarpathian region.
