Therefore, the inspectors drew up two reports on the violation of customs rules against a truck driver who tried to import two foreign cars with a significantly understated cost.
The 32-year-old truck driver, returning from the European Union, chose the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian customs on the Ukrainian-Slovak border to enter Ukraine.
During the customs and border control in the "red corridor" he provided accompanying documents for the goods – 8 cars of the brands "Volvo" and "Volkswagen", which he was moving on a trailer.
During the detailed inspection, customs officers had doubts about shipping documents for two of the eight cars, namely a "Volvo" model "XC 60" and a "Volkswagen" model "Caddy". The trucker submitted to customs control the accompanying letters of the Slovak customs authorities, invoices, vehicle registration certificates and letters of trust for each of them. According to them, the Volvo XC 60 was worth 23,700 euros (amounting to UAH 810,912.09) and the Volkswagen Caddy was worth 1,700 euros (UAH 58,166.69). The consignor and seller of the goods was a Munich firm, and the buyers and consignees were two Ukrainian citizens.
Inspectors inspected the truck and the driver’s personal belongings and found in the glove compartment copies of invoices with much higher car prices. In particular, the Volvo XC 60 cost EUR 30,500 (which is UAH 1,043,578.85) and the Volkswagen Caddy cost UAH 102,612.88. And the seller of the first car was another German company.
Therefore, two reports on violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine were drawn up against the unscrupulous driver, which provides for confiscation of illegal goods and a fine in amount of 100% of their value – in this case foreign cars worth over UAH 1.1 million. The case will be sent to court, which will decide the fate of the seized "Volvo XC 60" (2017) and "Volkswagen Caddy" (2009).
