The verdict of the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region on the criminal case, started and investigated by SSU, concerning the person accused of the commission of an offense under Part 3 Art.332 (smuggling of persons across the border) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has come to force.
In June 2011, a 26-year-old resident of Perechyn district agreed to take part in smuggling of eight Afghan citizens through the Ukrainian-Slovak state border for money.
It is established that the miscreant had met the four illegal immigrants on the road between the villages of Simer and Turya Remeta of Perechyn district. He brought the Afghans to the village of Dubrinichi by his car and passed them on to his accomplices for them to directly smuggle the migrants across the state border of Ukraine. That night, he brought another group of 4 people from Afghanistan to the appointed place near a small town of Perechin.
SSU officers caught the offender red-handed when he was to have passed a group of illegal immigrants to his associates.
The attacker was pled guilty and sentenced to four years in prison – said the press center of SSU.
