Transcarpathian community and the Right Sector defeated the controversial policeman. Today in Uzhgorod, they were going to present Vasyl Turdyay as the new head of the regional office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. But the staff of the office, as well as Transcarpathian Right Sector and Uzhgorod revolutionaries disagree with this decision. They demanded that the candidate for the local police chief must be coordinated with the community and staff, otherwise the Right Sector blocks the office and presentation of Vasyl Turdyay. Yesterday Transcarpathian police officers appealed to Kyiv to leave the ex-head – Vasyl Vartsaba – on the position. Today they reported that the order on the new appointment was published on the website of the MIA. The community called Turdyay to the meeting on Narodna Square, but the officer did not show up at the appointed time. They asked the Interim Head of the Regional Police – Serhiy Rossokha – to contact him by phone.
Here’s how he answered the question about the order on his appointment.
"There is the order on appointment, but because of the current situation, that the Right Sector and people do not agree, I called to the Ministry and asked to delay presenting me as the Head of the Office, until all these issues are agreed with you and the management. If this issue is not agreed upon, then I will withdraw my report on the appointment to the position."
Vasyl Maniak, a member of the Public Convention of Uzhgorod EuroMaidan, told Turdyay on the phone: "Please, tell the people who continue to appoint officials, not only in Transcarpathia, but in all regions of Ukraine, behind the scene, without discussions with the people: if they do not want to destabilize the situation and raise the second wave of the revolution against them, please, make it the first and the last precedent."
