The Service for Children of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration gave Uzhgorod Press Club the information regarding the number of children adopted by foreign nationals during 2010-2015.
Thus, over the past five years, foreigners have adopted a total of 152 Transcarpathians children: the largest amount was in 2012 – 41. Subsequently, however, the number of adopted children has gradually returned to the 2010 level.
Most children were adopted by Americans, Italians and Canadians. As for the rest of the countries, there is nothing exotic: developed European countries. Notably, residents of our closest neighbor countries, such as Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, are not eager to adopt Transcarpathians children.
