Designer Katerina Morgenthal has created an interesting collection "with content". She visualized the poetry of famous Ukrainian writers in patterns and reproduced them in textiles, – the Varosh informs.
With the VIRSHI collection, the girl is going to the Dutch Design Week, which will take place October 20-28, in the Dutch city of Eindhoven. The theme of this year’s exhibition is "Modern_ism".
Dutch Design Week is a major event in the world of European design. The exhibition sets the tone and direction for the coming years, presenting the best works of art, technological innovations and experimental developments. This year, Ukraine at DDW18 will be represented by 18 creative Ukrainians, whose works have been recognized as interesting and relevant to the theme "Modern_ism".
One of the participants is the Transcarpathian designer Katerina Morgenthal. The girl is bringing the collection VIRSHI, which she created in collaboration with Vicoseli and Zv’yazani.
– First, I set for myself a task to find a way to draw the vibration of the poem, that is, how it affects that particular state when we are reading it. I was thinking about how to come up with a code, a cipher, to simplify, optimize the text and reproduce it graphically. I decided to structure the sounds and represent them with certain colored symbols. I drew squares – and a monochrome pattern came out, – said the author.
Then, the designer created the pattern in several color schemes and transferred them to textile of natural wool. So now, thanks to Katya, you can literally wrap yourself in poetry.
In addition, the VIRSHI collection consists of pillows, tablecloths, carpets, and it is planned to make curtains, wallpaper, ceramic tiles and various interior decor. Thus, the girl showed how one idea filled with deep cultural content can be reproduced in different ways.
Katya has a lot of ideas – more poems, musical masterpieces and other sensual messages through design.
