Hospitals only for patients with COVID-19: all planned operations have been banned in Ukraine

This was announced by the Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko after a conference call with the President on November 9.

"Since Monday, all scheduled operations and scheduled hospitalizations are prohibited in our hospitals, hospitals accept only urgent patients and only patients with coronavirus disease. The situation is extremely difficult. The situation is extremely difficult not only in Ukraine."

Lyashko noted that Ukraine is already entering the second stage of the coronavirus disease spread.

Currently, according to him, it is necessary to urgently increase the number of beds that can take patients with coronavirus from 50 thousand to 80 thousand and 80% of them (ie 60 thousand beds) must be provided with oxygen.

The third stage, he said, will be the deployment of temporary hospitals in adapted premises.
