Representatives of the Embassy of Hungary in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine and local authorities took part in the opening of the consulate.
According to a UNIAN correspondent, it will be located in one of the Podolyany shopping center buildings. For now, three or four people will work in the newly established consulate. The president of the Podolany Charitable Foundation Tetyana Chubak became the Honorary Consul of Hungary in Ternopil and the region. She promised to make efforts to develop economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Ukraine Istvan Igyarto said that the residents of the region may be interested in the educational programs of Hungary, because every year this country pays tuition for 100 Ukrainians in their universities. The Foreign Ministry Ambassador of Ukraine Mykola Baltazhi added that the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Ternopil will facilitate the implementation of various bilateral projects, which will further reveal the potential of the city and the region. At the opening, Stepan Barna, the head of the Ternopil Regnal State Administration, noted that at present trade turnover between the enterprises of Ternopil and Hungary is only $ 7.4 million. He therefore expressed his hope that this figure would increase significantly thanks to the Consulate. During the opening of the consulate, Istvan Igyarto said that every quarter various events would be organized in Ternopil region to present the culture of Hungary.
