Head of the Department of Culture, Sport, Youth and Family of the Uzhgorod city hall Yevhen Bobrov at the press conference in the Uzhgorod Press Club told about the biggest festivals planned in Uzhgorod for 2013.
"The closest event will take place February 14 – Valentine’s Day. This year we want to do something unusual for the city. The competition for the best valentine has already been announced. And February 14, on Teatralna square there will be the show program "Journey of Love". Everyone, who is in love, can come to the square and express his or her love, sing karaoke. Any couple can get married right on the square. The certificate will be valid only on February 14, but every year.
Certificate of divorce will not be issued – Mr. Yevhen told.
– Another surprise: a certain person is preparing for the holiday a presentation of the lantern under umbrella. People will be able to declare their love beneath it." The show program will be accompanied by singers, competitive program. Each participant of the holiday will receive gifts: a special dinner in the restaurant and individual prizes. Beginning: at 15.00.
The next event will be the celebration of the end of the winter – the Carnival. It will be held the week before the Lent – 9 to 10 of March in Bozdosh park. There will be attractions for children with clowns, fairy tale characters. Also the program includes tasting of Transcarpathian wines and of course, pancakes.
May will be very festive. Specifically, on May 1-3, the celebration of the Labor Day on one of the city squares is planned. It will be a demonstration parade.
In the fall, there will be traditional celebration of the Day of Uzhgorod. "The city is preparing for the 1120th jubilee anniversary. There will be a lot of work because we want to do something really magical," – Yevhen Bobrov assured.
