Highway stripings and stop! Horiany and Radvanka dwellers ask the city authorities to protect them on the road

The neighborhood residents are planning to initiate from the community ‘Radvanka-Horiany’ to make provision in the expenditures part of the city budget money for the resettlement of one bus stop.

Everyday citizens are confused by the absence of the bus stop in their neighborhood. They have to go few kilometers to the nearest one.

‘We turned to the traffic police and the executive committee in March of this year, and argued that, in accordance with the relevant laws, which stipulate that the local authorities are supposed to implement routes, stops, and agree it with the traffic police, the local authorities are obliged to completely satisfy the needs of the traffic participants and place stops near the housing neighborhoods and the crowded population.’ – said activists.

However, the traffic police informed that due to technical reasons (narrow road) it is impossible to arrange the stop ‘on demand’, because it is necessary to make convenient access to some areas. Uzhgorod City Executive Committee announced to Horiany citizens on this that the bus stop grounds will be equipped only by the funds availability. The road on the Krasnodonka Street in Uzhgorod which is leading to one of the largest markets of the region was coved with asphalt in 2005. At the same time citizens sent a collective appeal to the municipality and in the management of traffic police with a request to establish an appropriate traffic signs and equip the pedestrian crossings. The government complied with the request of the neighborhood residents, but in 2 months the installed signs were sold for scrap. Since then (almost 7 years), Horiany and Radvanka citizens apply to all instances, but without the results.
