Last night, border guards of Chop detachment arrested another "seeker of happiness," who attempted to unlawfully cross the Ukrainian-Slovakian border. The "travelers" were stoppped by border guards of "Stuzhytsa" unit in Velyky Berezny district.
The border guard unit, which was patrolling the area, a few hundred meters away noticed two flashlights that were clearly moving in the direction of the state border. As a result of the measures taken to find offenders, the operative group on the outskirts of the state border found six unidentified people – five men and one woman. As usually, none of the detained offenders had documents that could prove their identity, but they said to border guards that they were the citizens of Eritrea. Representatives of the countries at the Red Sea explained that they were heading to the Slovak Republic. Moreover, according to the detainees, four of them were under 18 years of age.
Given the state of the weather conditions and the presence of snow cover on the frontier, those representatives of the African continent were lucky they did not get hypothermia, as it was with the citizens of Sri Lanka and Somalia.
Currently, the offenders are delivered to the border guard unit to clarify the circumstances of the offense and make administrative and procedural documents. Decision on the futher fate of detainees will be taken by the court.
