From now on, Transcarpathians can travel to Turkey using card passports

Starting today, citizens of Ukraine can cross the border with Turkey using internal passports in the form of ID-cards. The corresponding agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Turkish Republic amending the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Turkish Republic on the conditions of mutual travels came into force on June 1, 2017.

Within several hours after the entry into force of this Agreement, more than 20 citizens of Ukraine heading to Turkey took advantage of the right to cross the state border of Ukraine using ID-cards.

During the customs control, there were no problems.

Note that on March 14 this year, the governments of Ukraine and Turkey signed an agreement that allows Ukrainian and Turkish citizens to travel to respective countries using card passports, ie without travel passports. In this regard, the citizens of Ukraine and Turkey, who have ID-passports, can enter, leave, transit and stay without a visa in Turkey and Ukraine respectively for up to 90 days within 180 days.
