Mykhailo Voloshchuk, who was the chairman of the executive committee of the Transcarpathian Regional Council from 1974 to 1984 and a People’s Deputy of the first convocation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, has died.
He passed away at the age of 83.
The death of Mykhailo Voloshchuk was announced by the "Tribuna."
Mykhailo Voloschuk was born on November 10, 1934 in the village of Maidan, Mizhhirya district, Transcarpathian region in the family of farmers.
He graduated from the secondary school in the village of Maidan in Transcarpathian region, and in 1952 – from Mukachevo cooperative school.
For a long time, Mykhailo Voloschuk was a Komsomol and party functionary.
From April 1974 to December 1984, Mykhailo Voloshchuk was the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Transcarpathian Regional Council of People’s Deputies.
From 1984 to 1990, he was the Vice-Rector of Uzhgorod University.
From February 1990 to July 1991, he was the 1st secretary of the Transcarpathian Regional Committee of the Communist Party, also from April 1990 to October 1991, he was the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Transcarpathian Regional Council.
From 1992, he worked as the General Director of the "Zakarpatkeramika" JSC. From 1993. the General Director of the publishing company "Orbita".
On March 4, 1990, he was elected MP of Ukraine, winning in the 1st round 73.70% of votes and defeating four candidates (Transcarpathian region, Svalyava constituency number 175). He was a member of the group "For social justice." He was also a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Although Mykhailo Voloshchuk was an ardent communist, his work is mostly remembered with respect.
