Painting masterpieces of Yosyp Bokshay from early 20th century adorn the church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Storozhnytsya. And while residents of this village on the Uzh undoubtedly come here often (worships take place there daily), Transcarpathians from other settlements do not… And they should…
"The church is unique not only because there is a sacred painting of the famous painter of the Silver Land there – the abbot, Father Makariy says – but also because of its architecture. It vividly reflects the eclectic style."
This refers to the combination of two styles of art: constructivism, which was typical for then tendencies of Czechoslovak architecture, and non-Byzantine trends.
As for the icons by the coryphaeus of Transcarpathian art, there are three of them in the sanctuary… Two images are on the sides in front of the iconostasis (Virgin Mary with Jesus, Baptism-Transfiguration), and one is in the altar part which depicts the creators of the Slavic alphabet, in honor of whome the house of the Lord is sanctified.
Indeed, images on religious panels are drawn to detail; the palette of the outstanding artists highlights stories; and generally, the masterpieces, as well as the temple itself are worth to be seen to feel the power of faith through image…
