Transcarpathian journalist Vitaliy Glagola recorded how on the border with Slovakia, a customs officer demanded from him a bribe for unimpeded border crossing.
According to him, it happened on Sunday, when he was returning from Slovakia by an automobile that he planned to clear. Here is what Vitaliy Glagola wrote on his page on Facebook.
"Imagine my surprise when a Slovak customs officer began to demand a bribe from me. Well, not exactly a bribe – "for coffee". I heard the people in the queue ahead of me telling each other that 10 euros was not enough for the customs officer and that he demanded at least 20. So I decided to record his conversation with me on the phone. The Slovak customs officer was very surprised that I did not know about this "tradition".
After the customs officer did not receive the desired 20 euros, "…he put my documents aside and began to process the papers of the people who were standing behind me and were less principled", – Vitaliy wrote.
