As of 15.00, only 29% of voters in Transcarpathia have voted, while the average figure for Ukraine is 44.36%. There are three reasons for such a low activity of voters in the region, the Ukrinform informs.
This was stated by the head of the Transcarpathian branch of the CVU Dmytro Tuzhansky in an exclusive comment to the Ukrinform.
"Transcarpathia has never been known for high turnout at elections, but this year there are all reasons for setting the anti-record," – Tuzhansky said.
In his opinion, the low turnout is attributed to three key factors.
"First: the number of people working abroad is unprecedented," – the expert of the CVU says.
The second factor is the extremely low attention given by the presidential candidates to the region.
"Apparently, 956 thousand voters, who are officially registered in Transcarpathia, is not such an important figure on nationwide scale. Only 7 out of 39 presidential candidates visited the region, and none of the candidates even tried to somehow adapt their slogans or programs to Transcarpathia. And this despite the fact that over the past 5 years, the problems in the region have been the same", – Tuzhansky emphasized.
The third factor mentioned by the expert is the work of the presidential candidates’ teams.
"At the level of Transcarpathia, it was almost unnoticable. The campaigning was limited to billboards and TV spots. The quality of the presidential candidates’ work at this election is very poor, it was barely there. Most candidates didn’t have enough people to fill their quotas in election commissions, let alone to do active campaigning and meetings," – Tuzhansky said.
In his opinion, all that caused such a low turnout in Transcarpathia – according to the CVU, as of 15.00, only 29% of voters in Transcarpathia have voted.
According to the Central Election Commission, there are 6 constituencies, 811 polling stations in Transcarpathia, an estimated number of voters is 946,028 people.
