Exhibition of paintings by Vasyl and Vladislav Gabda will be held in Uzhgorod (Announcement)

The opening of the exhibition of paintings by Vasyl and Vladislav Gabda will be held on Friday, January 11, at 18:00.

Vasyl Gabda

Vasyl Gabda is representative of the third wave of classical Transcarpathian painting of the twentieth century.

He was born in Uzhgorod on July 11, 1925. He graduated from the Uzhgorod Druget Gymnasium, where the painting was taught by artist Gyorde Endredy.

Gabda is a plein air artist. His themes are mountain landscapes, country houses, forest, trees and streams. He is known as the painter of spring. He also painted still-lifes.

In 1943-1944, Gabda studied at the Architectural Faculty of the Budapest Polytechnic. In 1946 he graduated from Uzhgorod Art College.

 Gabda participated in all regional exhibitions, and since 1954 – in all republican, all-Union, and foreign exhibitions. His works are in museum collections.

Vladislav Gabda is Honored Artist of Ukraine. He was born on February 27, 1961. Works in the style of easel painting, installations, performances.

From 1976 to 1980, he studied at Uzhgorod Art School.

He has been active participant in all-union, all-Ukrainian exhibitions in the style of easel painting.

In 1993 he was admitted to the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

He takes an active part in plein airs and symposiums outside of Ukraine.

The exhibition will be held in the Ilko gallery and will last until February 10.
