Journalists of the IA Dyvys.info decided to visit the construction site of the Beskydy Tunnel, and asked when the first train would drive through it.
The tunnel construction project has been underway for 11 years. The first survey works, exploration of relief and geodetic works for the construction of the future Beskydy Tunnel began in 2007, the Mukachevo.net wrote.
The length of the new tunnel will be almost 2 km. Or more precisely, 1764.5 m. In August 2013, the final project for the construction of the tunnel was approved and the on-site work started. Incidentally, the width of the new tunnel is 10.5 m, height is 8.5 m.
– The capacity of the Beskydy tunnel will increase in comparison with the one-track tunnel from 47 to 100 pairs of trains per day, and the speed of trains will increase from 40 to 60 km / h, – Yevhen Kravtsov, the Acting Chairman of the "Ukrzaliznytsya" PJSC said.
Today, the new infrastructure is 90% completed, – Mykola Didukh said. – There are some regulations left to make, one platform needs to be completed. 99% of the cable lines of all networks have already been laid, the equipment is being connected. And, of course, there are still some maintenance works left to do. There is a countdown board on the site. It reminds everyone, who is working here, including me, that time is running out with every passing day, and it disciplines people and gives them enthusiasm."
Recall that the first trains will drive through the new two-track Beskydy tunnel on May 25, 2018.
