Four micro-projects, which will be co-financed by the European Union and the United Nations under the program "Local society-oriented development", will have been completed by the end of the year. Complete overhauls in kindergartens in the villages of Strabichevo, Rakoshino, Velyki Luchky and Kolchino will be carried out with the help of foreign donors’ funding.
As the head of the Department for European Integration in Mukachevo District State Administartion (DSA) Vasiliy Shkryba said, these objects have been selected among the twenty-four establishments suggested by rural district councils. The work is going to be started in June: windows and doors will be replaced and winterization of facades will be carried out. As the head of Strabychevo village Ivan Burak says, without the involvement of donors it would be extremely difficult to carry out such work, since the European Union and United Nations Development Programme will provide half of the project cost.
Similar initiatives have been already implemented in the region. The "Local society-oriented development" has existed in Transcarpathia for 4 years. Rakhiv, Uzhgorod and Svalyava districts have actively joined the project.
"If this first project is successfully implemented in Mukachevo district, other villages will be able to apply for the second and third objects requiring funds. We already have such experience, since in Ukraine in general there have been realized a thousand of such projects", – said the coordinator of the project implementation unit in Transcarpathian region Lubov Pavlovych.
The negotiations are currently being held on the establishment of regional resource center for communities on more active involvement of foreign and domestic donors in local projects.
