The national commission on regulation in the energy sector (NCRE), on July 1, 2012 raised electricity tariffs for residential customers using over 800 kWh of electricity per month by 72% to 95.76 kop / kWh (including VAT). Such a decision was taken on Friday, according to Ukrinform.
NCRE insist that in such a way they are trying to additionally protect vulnerable layers of population. For other customers, including those that use up to 1,800 kWh of electricity per month during cold seasons for heating their houses, the tariffs remained unchanged.
In addition, the innovations do not apply to 99% of consumers, in particular, large families and adoptive families, family-type children’s homes, hostels, summer houses and so on.
NCRE also assert that the amount of people that use over 800 kWh of electricity per month is 1.1% (or about 200 thousand subscribers) of the total amount, but the amount of energy consumed by them is 9% (or 3.1 billion kWh -h per year) of the total electricity used by population.
