Dynamics of the border traffic: Chop border guards summed up the year

Yesterday, December 19, in the office of the Chop border guard detachment, there was the meeting to summarize the activities for the current year. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Western Regional Office, the management and officers of the border guard detachment and heads of departments that carry out border service within Uzhgorod, Perechyn and Velyky Berezny districts.

As the speakers noted, border service in the area of the Chop detachment had been carried out in a very tense situation, which was mainly determined by the flow of illegal migrants. Indeed, as it was noted at the final Board of the State Border Service of Ukraine, during the year, about 55% of illegal migrants have been detained by officers of the Chop detachment. However, when looking at the results of the operational activities of the Chop border guards, it is clear that they successfully fight not only illegal immigrants.

Overall, during the current reporting year, border guard units have detained 377 illegal immigrants. Independently and in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, in 521 cases they have prevented the illegal transportation of goods across the border in the amount of over 12 million hryvnias. More than 4 million people and 1.5 million vehicles have crossed the border. In addition, during the border control in crossing points on the border, they have found 13 units of weapons and 170 units of ammunition, 4 kilograms of drugs and 1.5 kilograms of psychotropic drugs. During the passport control, the inspectors have found 15 forged, 252 invalid passports and 14 passports belonging to other people. 1,100 people have brought to administrative charges, and fines in total amount of 1,342,000 UAH have been imposed.
