On Mukachevo – Rohatyn highway, within the village of Zaluzhzhya, the driver of a car Citroen lost control and collided with a police car. Yesterday, on November 2, at about 5.20 pm, the police received a report of a road accident with victims in the village of Zaluzhzhya, Mukachevo district.
At the scene, police investigators established the preliminary circumstances of the accident. It was found out that the driver of a Citroen, moving towards Mukachevo, had failed to maintain a safe distance between his car and a truck moving in the oncoming lane, resulting in him ramming it and colliding with the next vehicle, which was moving towards him – a police car. As a result of the impact, the car "Skoda Octavia" drove into the ditch.
As a result of the car accident, a passenger of the Skoda, a 37-year-old officer of the Transcarpathian National Police Office, was injured. The woman was taken to the Mukachevo Central Hospital for treatment. The other two law enforcement officers were not injured.
The Citroen was driven by a 50-year-old resident of Svalyava. The man was driving in the state of intoxication.
The police opened criminal proceedings over the accident with victims under Part 1 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules with victims). Also reports of administrative violations were drawn up against the offender for driving under influence and without proper license (Article 130 and Article 126 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The cars were taken to the impound lot of Mukachevo police station. The investigation is ongoing.
