New books and art club entitled "Berehynya" has settled in a cozy room in the Regional House of Culture of Trade Unions at Ruska street, 3 in Uzhgorod. Inside, you will find the smell of fresh paint from books and paintings and a friendly librarian Iryna Kravets.
"In this way, we decided to revive our true history, and not the one we have been taught before. So here are the publications of those people who have experienced and knew it," – Ms. Iryna says.
Among them, there is a unique book of Mykola Arkas "History of Ukraine-Rus", which was released back in 1912 in Krakow. The present edition is an uncensored republication.
"Finally we are publishing what once was forbidden" – Mrs. Iryna says. Other publications are Roman Koval’s "Through Moscovia’s Web," Volodymyr Shovkoshytny’s "White Gyrfalcon," Vadim Pepa’s "Before the Eyes of the Truth," Oleg Chornoguzov’s "Children of the Colony," Pavlo Volvach’s "Khreshchatyk Plaza". Overall, more than 200 publications donated by the People’s Movement of Ukraine and the publishing house "Ukrainsly Prioritet". And they are cheap – 10-70 UAH. The proceeds from the sale are used to purchase new books. By the way, here you can take a book home to read.
The bookstore is decorated with artwork by Transcarpathian artiss – Vasyl Brenzovych, Yosyp Babynets and the family of Ivan Rishko.
"The fact is that often our artists are not able to promote their works, because it takes money (galleries, exhibitions). So you can bring you own works or buy others’ here,"- Ms. Kravets says.
Similar book and artistic clubs will soon be arranged in Tyachiv district and in Perechyn.
