Do not forget to reset the clock: on October 25, Ukraine switches to winter time

Daylight saving time will be canceled in Ukraine on the night of October 25. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.

"On October 25, 2020, at 4 (four) o’clock Kyiv time, daylight saving time will be canceled with the clock being turned back 1 (one) hour," – the statement reads.

It is noted that a similar procedure for calculating time is in force in the EU on the basis of the Directive of the European Parliament dd. 19.01.2001 on daylight saving time.

However, the European Commission has proposed to reconsider this issue and cancel the resetting of the clock twice a year.

Thus, each EU country has until April 2021 to decide which time they will keep: summer or winter.

The Ukrainian ministry says it is monitoring the European Commission’s initiative and "if the EU decides to abolish the resetting of the clock and in order to harmonize our legislation with the EU, the Cabinet will be suggested to consider appropriate changes in Ukrainian legislation."
