On the Ukrainian-Romanian border (checkpoint Dyakovo), officers of the Security Service of Ukraine jointly with border guards and customs officers prevented an attempt of illegal transportation of large quantities of cigarettes, the press center of the Security Service informs.
According to the report, the driver and the passenger of a van with diplomatic license plates presented customs officers copies of documents about alleged diplomatic cargo transportation from Moscow to Rome. Since the documents did not meet the established requirements and given an atypical route, the customs officers decided to inspect the van.
In eight sealed boxes, they found a large consignment of cigarettes of Ukrainian and Belarusian production.
The report on violation of customs rules was made. The tobacco products were seized.
In addition, in Transcarpathian region, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a foreign national who was shipping cocaine to Ukraine.
The offender was arrested immediately after crossing the Romanian-Ukrainian border while trying to bring to Ukraine 29 grams of cocaine. The cost of such an amount of the drug on the "black market" is almost 110,000 UAH.
The involvement of the detainee in the transportation of a total of 49 grams of cocaine into the territory of Ukraine was documented.
A criminal proceeding has been opened, urgent operational-investigative measures are being taken.
