Deputies of Irshava district council appealed to the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Ukraine regarding the delay in the payment of social welfare for servicemen taking part in the anti-terrorist operation and their families.
"Ukrainian legislation contains many acts which in varying degrees
provide for benefits for combatants. But the fact is that to date,
cash payments to the participants of the anti-terrorist operation and their
family members have not been carried out properly as provided for by the Law of Ukraine "On Social and Legal Protection of
Servicemen and their Families", in the manner prescribed by the Resolution
of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of December 25, 2013 № 975 "On approval of the
Procedure for appointment and payment of one-time financial assistance in the event of death,
full or partial disability of
soldiers, conscripts and reservists
called up for drill (or test) and special meetings or for
service in the military reserve."
If no steps to change this situation are taken immediately, the credit
to the government will decrease and discontent among the Ukrainian people will increase.
In this regard, we consider it necessary to intensify the work of relevant
public authorities to provide social guarantees and benefits for
servicemen – participants of the anti-terrorist operation, increase
preferences for the specified category, including education, employment," – the appeal reads.
