As you know, members of the Regional Council pay special attention to the issue of cross-border cooperation. There is an active cooperation with the regions of Vysocina (Czech Republic), Upper Franconia (Germany), Heves and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg (Hungary) and others. So at the fourth plenary meeting of the 19th session of the Regional Council, they amended the Program of cross-border cooperation for 2011-2015. The estimate of costs required for the implementation of the Program of cross-border cooperation development in Transcarpathian region for 2015 provides 450,000 UAH from the regional budget.
The document states that stimulation of interregional and cross-border cooperation is one of the priorities of state regional policy.
Implementation of the integration process in the border regions directly influences the development of Transcarpathian region through the development of cross-border cooperation in the Carpathian region and determines the urgent need for continued and further implementation of the Program of cross-border cooperation development in Transcarpathian region in 2011-2015 (according to the stages defined by the European Commission on the implementation of programs for development of relations with neighboring countries)
Therefore, today one of the most important tools in the development of Ukraine’s relations with the EU is the cooperation of Ukraine, and Transcarpathian region in particular, with neighboring countries – EU members, which should promote both the economic development in the border regions of our countries and in general enhanced cross-border cooperation in the economic, political, humanitarian, scientific and other spheres.
