Deputies demand to leave the usual and convenient for passengers train schedule

On Monday, November 27, on the eve of the 9th session of the Regional Council, the commission on business development, industrial infrastructure, banking and investment held its meeting under the chairmanship of Andriy Andriyiv. The Deputy Chairman of the Regional Council Petro Hrytsyk also took part in it.

The agenda included 3 issues: on the Program of economic and social development of the Transcarpathian region for 2018;  on the dismissal of the director of the Transcarpathian Regional Utility Enterprise "International Airport"; on the appeal of the Transcarpathian Regional Council regarding the need to open a railway route Rakhiv – Odesa – Rakhiv (as amended).

Separately, the commission considered the issue included in the agenda of the 9th session on the Program of financial support for the development of transborder cooperation of local self-government of Transcarpathian region for 2018, which was presented by the head of the Department for Development of Local Self-Government, International and Regional Relations of the Executive Body of the Regional Council Vasyl Makovsky

During the consideration of the issue of improvement of the quality of railway passenger transportation, a constructive discussion started between members of the commission Roman Furman, Petro Dobromilsky, Oleksandr Kemenyash and the director of the Department of Housing, Construction and Infrastructure of the Regional State Administration Eduard Malyar. The latter informed the regional deputies that the Ukrzaliznytsya, as a joint-stock company, unilaterally reduces schedules of passenger trains running from Uzhgorod to Kyiv for unprofitability reasons. Instead, the company does not respond to repeated requests for the introduction of additional routes (Kyiv-Uzhgorod-Kyiv), nor does it solve the issue of a shortage of tickets for passenger trains between the cities of the region and Ukraine, which leads to social tension among the residents of the region.

– The Department of Housing, Construction and Infrastructure of the Regional State Administration together with the deputy Denys Man have prepared for the consideration of the session an appeal regarding the decision of the Ukrzaliznytsya to introduce the schedule of passenger trains for 2017-2018, which provides for the cancelation of passenger trains between the region and the cities of Kyiv and Lviv and introduction of the train Uzhgorod-Lysychansk. Instead, we demand to adjust the schedule of the train number № 29/30 Uzhgorod-Kyiv, taking into account the arrival of the train to the capital at 08.00, – Eduard Malyar said.

Thus, having heard the relevant proposals, the commission unanimously supported this appeal to the Ukrzaliznytsya and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan to resolve these problematic issues.

At the end, the commission also considered issues included in the agenda of the 9th session of the Regional Council, which will be held on November 30, 2017.
