Day of Uzhgorod began for real

Although the organizers of the Day of Uzhgorod proclaimed that this year the celebrations will last 4 days, actually Day of Uzhgorod started today, September 29.

In the downtown – on the Teatralna and Poshtova squares – two stages have been erected, where a variety of performers sing and dance. In afternoon the traditional autumn fair opened, and in the basement of the "Sovyne hnizdo" winemakers offer their products. But, unfortunately, this time there were rather few winemakers.

 In general, the fair is traditionally dominated with barbecue, bohrach, and beer. Although the products of craftsmen are also available. At 15:00 on Kapitulna street a solemn promenade procession started, which actors and reenactors, delegations from neighboring countries and sister cities, as well as Mayor Victor Pogorelov and representatives of regional authorities participated in. At 15.30 Pogorelov presented honorary awards and diplomas to the best Uzhgorod citizens.

Evening should be fun. At 18:00 a boxing tournament starts, which should be attended (according to the posters) by the Olympic champion Oleksandr Usyk, and at 19:00 a concert begins that will culminate with fireworks at 10 P.M.
