Criminal liability exists not only for buyers of votes, but also for voters selling their votes. In connection with the approaching elections, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration appealed to the citizens of the region with the statement:- I want to remind voters and political parties, their candidates and electioneerers that, in connection with amendments to Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, criminal responsibility exists not only for buyers of votes, but also for those selling their votes. That is, voters, who have received money from a so-called "electioneerer" for their votes, bear the same criminal responsibility as the one who gave the money. Moreover, buying and selling of votes may be classified as a crime committed by a group by prior conspiracy (a group is two or more people). It is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years. Therefore the Regional State Administration warns not only political parties and candidates for deputies, village, town or city mayors, but also ordinary voters against the sale of votes. Law enforcement agencies this year will be acting very strictly, but within the law. No one will be silently watching the sale of votes. Please stop proclaiming populist slogans "take from all who give." This time it is not going to work, you can be imprisoned for 7 years.
