On June 28, the 19th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution is celebrated in Ukraine. After debate between advocates of a strong executive power and MPs that upheld broad powers of the parliament, on June 28, 1996, this variant of the Basic Law was adopted.
During its rather short history, the Constitution has undergone several transformations: in 2004 under President Viktor Yushchenko, the result of the constitutional reform was a parliamentary-presidential form of government. In 2010, the Constitutional Court overturned this reform and then President Viktor Yanukovych received tremendous power.
As you know, now we are waiting for new, agreed with the Venice Commission, amendments to the basic law of the country.
However, experts have repeatedly noted: the law itself is good, but the problem is that not all adhere to it…
The optimistic uzhgorod.in believes: the time will come when every citizen of our country will be proud of it, respect its laws, celebrate the most important holidays of the country sincerely (not because it’s just another day off).
After all this day often coincides with another holiday – the Day of Youth – that is the day of our future!
Congratulations on the Day of Constitution, friends, and on the Day of Youth! Let our country be deserving out pride!
