Complete cleanup at Uzhgorod “Spartak” continues (PHOTOS)

After the publication about cutting the trees on the territory of the swimming pool "Spartak", the work had temporarily been stopped. Today, however, the cleanup started again. As if it wasn’t enough that they had partially been cutting down the trees for a month, now they have started cutting them off completely and uprooting stumps. Part of the cut wood is burned, another is shipped and taken away. Now a team is working there, it is completely clearing the area for a new construction. When asked why they are doing that one of the workers replied that they had got an order from Sergey Nikolaevich (Sergey Ratushniak – former Mayor of Uzhgorod – auth.)

In the city council nobody has heard of the current cleanups. Alla Hayatova, a spokesman of the Uzhgorod Mayor assures that no permission to cut the trees has been given by the authorities. "They only talked about trimming a few poplars growing beside the road – she says. – Since there has been no permission, now the reaction of the authorities, primarily environmental ones and law enforcement, is expected. However, there are some problems with the representatives of municipal services getting to the territory of "Spartak".
