#Come_to_election: a campaign to increase awareness of local voters has been initiated in Transcarpathia

A group of journalists and civic activists have developed the concept of a mobilization information campaign to lift the country’s westernmost region from the bottom to the top in terms of voter turnout on October 25.

– If you analyze the level of voter turnout in Transcarpathia, over the past 5 years this figure has been constantly decreasing, and at the last parliamentary and presidential elections, Transcarpathia was a clear outsider in terms of turnout.

Experts have different opinions about it. Some say it is an evidence of Europeanness. But we think that it is not a very good trend, especially given what is happening in the country. So we have developed this mobilization campaign – Vitaliy Hlahola, the campaign initiator said.

According to him, the campaign will cover the local media and social networks, with a focus on Facebook and Vkontakte, where youth spends a lot of time.

– We did not have much time to prepare, but devoted a lot of time to finding a slogan that would also become a hashtag, and simultaneously reflected Transcarpathian flavor, that is be close to local residents, carry not only the content but also emotion. So have selected #Come_to_election. Of course, there will be humor, which is the best tool for communicating and sharing information. After all, Transcarpathians are humor gourmets – Vitaliy said.

According to him, the main emphasis will be put on the day of silence and the election day.

– To paraphrase the popular game "Mafia," when politicians "fall asleep," the conscience wakes up. The day of silence and the election day are the time when we should be the most active and effective, because then the media will be littered with all this propaganda, sleaze war and empty promises. We’re not going to campaign for anyone. We will encourage to come to the polls and make an informed choice – Vitaliy Hlahola said.
