City officials deny that the Uzh is polluted

The information about pollution of the Uzh river is untrue – the letter from the mayor’s office claims. It states that the published information claiming that sewage has been dumped into the Uzh river, which caused the pollution, is untrue.

Uzhgorod City Council informed, "the interdepartmental commission surveyed banks of the Uzh river in the city to identify unauthorized discharges of untreated water into the water body. The commission has not found any unauthorized leaks that could contaminate the water."

This, of course, is good to know. uzhgorod.in recently published the information with pictures, showing that the purity of the river could be better.

By the way, on some pictures you can see not only the muddy shallow Uzh, but also the places of apparent sewage dumping into the river, near the pedestrian bridge.

In their comment, Uzhgorod city and district office of the Main Office of the State Health Service in Transcarpathian region said that it is better not to swim there. The cleanest locations for swimming is near the "Spartak" stadium and on Nezalezhnist embankment near the Padiyunu. In fact, the city government prohibited swimming within the city, despite the fact that the commission allegedly, quote "has not found any unauthorized leaks that could contaminate the water."

However, today, not only a lot of people cooled down in the river – they also bathed a dog there
